4 signs that it is time to replace your home's windows

The best time to replace the windows in your home is before they need replacing! How do you know when it’s time to replace your home’s windows? Here are four signs that indicate it’s time to start looking into window replacement services in your area.

1) Cracked glass and frame

If there are cracks or holes in your window frame, you’ll want to replace them as soon as possible. Cracks and holes can compromise a window’s energy efficiency and its ability to insulate against drafts. When you notice problems like these, it’s definitely time for a replacement. Glass can easily be replaced; frames will require more work and additional costs, but they should also be repaired or replaced if they break.

When you start having difficulties opening/closing windows: If a window begins to stick, then it may be easier (and safer) to get it replaced rather than fix it yourself. Windows that don’t open correctly could lead to dangerous accidents if they were to ever break completely while someone was inside of the house.

2) Mold, rot, or warped wood

A few warning signs you should pay attention to are mold, rot, or warped wood. If your windows look anything less than perfect, these should be enough of a reason for you to consider replacing them. All of these issues can lead to bigger problems in the future like leaks and drafts—not only is it not worth trying to save money by ignoring small problems like these, but sometimes they're easy fixes! You should contact a window repair company as soon as possible if any of these issues arise. (Be sure to take pictures before doing so.) Windows are an essential part of every house; therefore you should ensure yours are always in good condition and working properly.

3) Leaky seals

If you’re seeing large amounts of water building up on your windowsills, it’s likely that your window seals are broken. This problem can be easily remedied by a window seal replacement. If left unchecked, however, leaks can lead to mold growth, so it’s important to have them fixed as soon as possible. Your insurance company may cover part or all of a replacement depending on factors such as number of windows affected and type of damage involved.

4) Inconvenient windows

Old, leaking windows aren’t just expensive to repair or replace; they can also be a fire hazard. If you notice water seeping into your walls or mold developing on surfaces near these windows, then it's time for an upgrade. It might also be worth looking into whether or not you should have these windows replaced if they make a lot of noise during windy conditions. Installing energy-efficient windows with thicker glass panels could also help reduce outside noise from entering your living space. Don't allow your windows to be an inconvenience with you and your family's living situation!
