A Closer Look at Owens Corning Architectural Shingles
Here's a look at the finished product from a roof replacement we completed earlier this week, and we're proud of how it came out.
The shingle used on this job is the Owens Corning 3-dimensional architectural shingle, also known as a laminate shingle. If you're not familiar with the difference between architectural and standard 3-tab shingles, it's worth understanding before you make a decision on your next roof.
A 3-tab shingle is flat and uniform, with cutouts along the bottom edge that give it a segmented look. It's the older, more basic style and while it still gets the job done, it's thinner and less durable than its architectural counterpart.
An architectural shingle is made from two layers of material bonded together, which gives it a dimensional, textured appearance that mimics the look of wood shake or slate. Beyond aesthetics, that extra layer adds real performance benefits. Architectural shingles are heavier, more wind-resistant, and generally carry longer warranties than standard 3-tab products. Owens Corning's architectural line is one of the most trusted in the industry, and as a Platinum Preferred Contractor we install them to the manufacturer's specifications on every job.
The result on this particular home speaks for itself. A clean, dimensional roof that adds curb appeal and gives the homeowner peace of mind knowing the materials underneath are built to last.
