Different Gutter System Styles

Did you know there are many different styles for gutters? It can be tedious and boring, but it’s our profession, so we take the science of this very seriously. An improper gutter system can damage your homes foundation and ultimately lead to leaking.

Here’s a brief overview of what is found within that section:

Gutter Types

• K-Style Gutters have flat bottoms and backs, and the front side of the gutter usually has a decorative shape, such as a curve or ogee, that mimics crown molding. Many styles are available.

• Half Round Gutters are exactly what the name suggests: half-round tubes. Half-round gutters often are found on older, historic homes.

Debris in addition to standing water can weigh well over a hundred pounds and damage the angle of the gutter (known as the gutter’s pitch line). If that pitch is lost due to excess weight, standing water can back up away from the downspout and into your home or even overflow into the home’s foundation, possibly flooding your basement.
